For Childminders

The Alban Way Children's Centres services for our local registered childminders:

1. Provision of a Lead Childminder

** Vacancy ** Vacancy ** Vacancy ** Vacancy ** Vacancy ** Vacancy

Are you a registered Childminder?  Would you like to work with the Children's Centre to develop and sustain good quality Childminding provision, and support fellow childminders to meet the requirements of the EYFS?

This paid role promotes opportunities for peer support, including facilitating network drop-ins and support meetings; working with local Childminders to improve practice by offering support in evaluating planning and observations, and how to set next steps for the children in their care.  The Lead Childminder also liaises with relevant Children's Centre personnel and regularly cascades information to local childminders that have provided their contact details.

If you would be interested in this role please contact Vicky Brooker, Children's Centre CoOrdinator via email at coord.albanway@hertschildrenscentres.org.uk or call either 01727 260 041 or 07833 058 735

2. Childminders Network Meetings

This service is run once a term, by childminders and The Alban Way Children's Centres, and provides the opportunity to network and share best practice.  We can arrange guest speakers to cover specific topics - please contact us if there is anything in particular you would like us to focus on!

Keep a look out for the new dates here.

3. Childminders Support Line

This term-time service is ON HOLD whilst we recruit a new Lead Childminder.

5. Little Eden Allotment for Childminders

Unique to our childminders, we have our very own allotment near Hixberry Lane.  Participation is open to all childminders within The Alban Way Children’s Centres areas.  You are very welcome to come and join with your children to reap the benefits of the outdoors by digging, watering, planting and harvesting in your own mini plot.

Nadia Sangra-Jones heads up the allotment planning group - please contact her on 07846 261 107 for more information.

  • The Ofsted website can be found here - it is recommended that you login and sign up to updates
  • The most recent Early Years Foundation Stage full statutory guide can be found here
  • For training courses, including paediatric first aid, safeguarding and a variety of Saturday workshops, visit the Herts for Learning website here.
  • UK Childminding Association (UKCMA) - help, guidance and support for all UK Childminders - click here to go to their website
  • The Mind The Road website was developed by the Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) and produced with the support of the Department for Transport.  It's a fantastic website, containing downloadable resources for childminders to use with the children and families they work with; it's all about helping young children to develop road safety awareness, as well as helping adults to polish up their own road safety awareness – so they can communicate the right messages to children and young people.
